Triple Happiness

When we were married, it was considered "Double Happiness" in Chinese tradition. When Sophia arrived, our family was blessed by "Triple Happiness"! I guess not that Heidi, is here, there must be something about 4-Happiness, but I'll keep my address the same. Here is an attempt to share all this happiness with friends and family.

Sophia's Baptism Day

Well, it's official...Sophia is no longer a pagan baby. She was officially accepted into her first club that requires membership...the Catholic Church. Heaven help us all. I've just begun the painful torture and guilt that comes along with ccd classes and boring Catholic Masses. I hope though, that she'll experience equally as much the joy of relationships that I have experienced in my Catholic faith life as well.

The day was really nice. The weather was so mild that we all walked to the church from our house. It is around the corner, and apart from getting the house presentable and everyone dressed and on time, it was nice to walk with the family together. We were joined by Grandma/Pa Dodde, Uncle Rob and Aunt Erica, Uncle Derek and Aunt Meridith, Mallory, Lish, Bill, Jen Farthing, and three Dominican friends for the ceremony. It was very nice. Sophia slept through Mass and was wide awake for the ceremony.

When the water was poured on Sophia's head, she opened her mouth and stuck out her tongue to get a drink. She let out a little cry, but I think she really enjoyed it for the most part. The candle fascinated her, as most lights do.

The party afterwards was very nice. We crammed into our tiny living room and enjoyed Buona Beef sandwiches, salad, chips and crackers, and of course cake! Not so Weight Watcher friendly, but a delicious way to celebrate. She received some very nice momentos of her special day.

Perhaps the best part of the day....a family nap together after the last guest had gone home. :)

The Biggest Loser

How much do I love that show? The family edition was on tv last night and I was tied to the tv, while working out on our new cardio cruiser. Peter convinced me that I should spend my time in front of the tv productively, so I spent the time Sophia was napping getting in a good work out and being super motivated by the families on the show.

Tonight is my work night at Weight Watchers and I'm anxious to see how crazy it gets with the new year resolution lines. Our meetings are fairly small so we're hoping that the new year brings in enough people to keep them open. This also means that Sophia gets to go and visit her other friend Sophia at the babysitter. Amy, a friend from college, takes her until Peter can pick her up after work. It is such a nice arrangement for all of us!

New Year's Resolutions

This year I am vowing to start using this fun tool! My sister, Jennifer, has a blog inspired by a friend of hers and I love reading about her family through her entries. I thought this was a perfect way to share in return. And since my life is relatively exciting, I'm sure lots of people will enjoy reading all about it. So Happy New Year to us all and let the 2006 blogging begin!

Sophia's first New Year's Eve party was shared by her godfather Bill and our friend Chris Brehm. We dined at TGI Friday's in the early evening and enjoyed mah jong, Scrabble and Yahtzee until the wee hours of the night. Sophia was even awake to ring in 2006 (and remained awake well past when the adults wanted her to.) January 1 was a balmy Chicago day and we joined Jen Farthing downtown for lunch at the Grand Luxe. I'd do it again...nice atmosphere, good food, etc. We roamed Michigan Ave for way too long that day and concluded our day with a little Rocky's Pizza in Westchester. Not a bad way to begin the new year. And Sophia was a very good companion on our long day downtown.

A few things I'm resolving for 06:
Being a blogger
Returning to pre-pregnancy weight
Scrapbook-o-rama
Continuing to evolve into a fabulous wife and mother

Fun Sophia tidbits:
Her baptism is this weekend!
